Hi everyone and welcome to the New Year! I hope you all had a brilliant Christmas and New Year.
Here in Spain it is still a holiday with the 3 Kings tomorrow and one last weekend to relax and celebrate before all normality returns and the darling little kiddies go back to school, yay!!
I admit I switched off for a while from weddings as Christmas overtook me, which is always great as it allows me a bit of a breather and creative time.
Stepping back from the emails and reading things I love such as interior designs and trends allows me to refresh my mind and prepare for the wonderful year we have to come.
I read with interest the latest colour Pantone predicted for this year was that rather yucky green, even they could not think of a good name for it and came up with ‘greenery’?!
As an interior designer and an avid watcher of interiors and styling trends I am inclined to disagree that this is the latest colour trend. Whilst the botanicals took grip last year and it was all about delicate ferns and lots of greenery, for me the latest trends are totally different.
Blush and golds have been hugely popular but have been overtaken now by rose gold, bronze and copper metallics. Silvers are also going to make a comeback, watch this space!
Rose golds combine beautifully with a slightly deeper blush bordering more on the coral again, combine this with navy and mustards and you are back on trend for 2017.
Other elements and textiles that are going to be huge this year are grey and white marbles, they are everywhere now in the homeware design shops, combined with copper metallics.
The geode look never really took off but there are many elements of stone such as the marble and concrete, even better if they are concrete pots dipped in a rose gold 🙂
Velvet is also about to have it’s day, we are seeing more luxurious heavier fabrics now being used for all sorts of interior design projects from sofas to cushions.
Cactus are the next thing from the botanical look, you will see them everywhere this year from neon cacti lights and printed onto cushions, wall art, etc overtaking last years trend of pineapples and flamingos.
I have created a few inspirations boards, one of the latest home trends, many of these images are from the fabulous shop, Oliver Bonas. This is a store I always visit when in London and absolutely love it!
With these interior trends in mind I have put together a wedding inspiration board, all these images were found on Pinterest. I hope this will inspire you as you design your wedding for this year or indeed 2018.
A stunning and up to date palette of coppers and rose golds mixed with soft greys, marbles, a deep rich navy perhaps as an accent and the beautiful blush but a deeper more coral version again.
Grey greens of cacti and eucalyptus which is going to be heavily featured this year in garlands and drapes and forget ivory it is all about whites!
Finally think shapes, geometrics are huge this year and add some fun elements in such as light boxes and letter boards.
Out for me for 2017 is rustic… hessian runners, wooden slabs and mason jars have had their day. I have seen more lemonade welcome stands than I care for, think gin bars instead, much more fun and guests can choose their gin cocktail!
Through January I will be posting up more trends and ideas for your 2017 and 2018 weddings so do watch this space!
Finally as this is a New Year post we are delighted to start the New Year having been awarded a Service Excellence Award by the Luxury Travel Guide in their wedding and honeymoon award category.
We had no idea we were even nominated but never the less it is always lovely to receive recognition for our work.
Clever sales and marketing though as of course we are then asked to upgrade! We thank you in any case for considering us and awarding us.
