Nestled in the hills between Mijas and Fuengirola with stunning views over the coastline, is the location of an extremely popular restaurant which has been running for years, the Valparaiso.
Since 1984 Valparaiso´s charismatic owner, Raffaele, has welcomed hundreds of famous people to his establishment and as you enter you are whipped back in time to the glamour of the 80´s and 90´s.
The walls of the reception are adorned with framed photos of famous faces who have frequented this restaurant from James Hunt, the racing driver, to Cilla Black and more recently the Beckhams. There are so many famous faces it is really quite a sight to see.
The charming restaurateur, Raffaele, works his magic to make sure visiting his restaurant is a romantic experience and always hands out red roses to the ladies, me included! Often during planning this wedding I rocked out of there with a red rose between my teeth!
Shelley, Vincent and their family love this restaurant so when they decided to get married in Spain the Valparaiso was their obvious choice as they had spent many lovely evenings here whilst on holiday.
Having booked the restaurant for their wedding, with the aptly named Love Menu! Shelley had been recommended Reviva Weddings by one of our past brides, via a mutual friend. She contacted me and we were hired straight away to help put together the rest of their day, manage their wedding and add in those gorgeous details to make it special.
Shelley was a delight to work with, she was so relaxed and trusted me to manage everything but she had also a few suppliers up her sleeve. Shelley had won a competition in the UK for a makeover with her bridesmaids to be and it included beautiful photos with the super talented team over at Braid and Bloom.
After her makeover Shelley was sold, the hair, make up and images were stunning and I was rather intrigued and excited to be working with them too. You can see the makeover and images here as Shelley sent me the photos at the time.
At the end of August the big day arrived and it was steamingly humid!
As a rule I don´t do weddings in August as it is really too hot and the coast is heaving. However as this is the last weekend in August and it is a bank holiday in the UK this is when we usually start our weddings again as we ease into the September and October wedding season.
The day started with Braid and Bloom getting Shelley and her super glamorous girlfriends ready.
Vinnie and his entourage were in a villa in San Pedro and arrived at Valparaiso about 45 minutes before the ceremony was due to start. Thankfully the ceremony was inside with the air con on, and guests were welcomed with cold water.
Shelley and her Team Sequins 🙂 arrived in their stunning dresses and a beautiful ceremony was conducted by Liz Wilkinson. Guests were then ushered to the pool area for a cocktail hour whilst Rebecca and I whipped Shelley and a rather grateful, Vincent into my air conned car to get some fabulous photos in the hills just above the restaurant.
I was equipped with mossie spray, water and air con to make sure they did not get bitten and Shelley then revealed a rather nasty mossie bite on her leg she had got a few days previously. Lots more spraying was done before I let them all go off into the grasses with Rebecca to get these gorgeous golden light shots. Needless to say I sat in my car waiting for them in the air con :)!
When we arrived back at the restaurant everyone was enjoying a drink and canapes and then were seated for a wonderful meal. I was impressed with the service at Valparaiso and the fact each guest was able to order from a choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses.
Team Valparaiso were astounding from the kitchen to the waiters, the restaurant was so enthusiastic and determined that Shelley and Vincent were going to have a memorable experience. From presenting them with a white dove as we arrived back from the quick photo shoot for their cocktail entrance, to organising a flamenco show on the house, a wedding cake and a lovely bunch of flowers which Shelley then gave to me 🙂
Guests danced away to the Cool Fire Band, who were brilliant and it was just a fabulous evening. I think the only thing that everyone found hard, coming from the UK in particular, was the heat, the Italians were coping better!
Poor Vinnie said to me at one point he was having a brilliant time but was just sweltering and struggling with it all, and bless him he really did look very hot.
Our congratulations to Mr and Mrs Condomitti and our thanks to the wonderful Rebecca and her team who made the girls look super gorgeous and shared these stunning images with us.
Braid and Bloom consist of these hugely talented girls
