Nestled in the hills between Mijas and Fuengirola with stunning views over the coastline, is the location of an extremely popular restaurant which has been running for years, the Valparaiso.

Since 1984 Valparaiso´s charismatic owner, Raffaele, has welcomed hundreds of famous people to his establishment and as you enter you are whipped back in time to the glamour of the 80´s and 90´s.

The walls of the reception are adorned with framed photos of famous faces who have frequented this restaurant from James Hunt, the racing driver, to Cilla Black and more recently the Beckhams.  There are so many famous faces it is really quite a sight to see.

The charming restaurateur, Raffaele, works his magic to make sure visiting his restaurant is a romantic experience and always hands out red roses to the ladies, me included!  Often during planning this wedding I rocked out of there with a red rose between my teeth!

After a very hot day in September, I have lovely memories of sitting down in the evening as the dinner started and just thought WOW, it really was a dream fairytale wedding.  Everything was beautifully lit and twinkling away and our guests were enjoying a superb meal after a beautiful ceremony and cocktail.

I was utterly delighted, along with being rather charmed by the Maitre D who also apparently managed to weave his magic charm with the mothers and aunts of the bride and groom, according to Kareemah afterwards :)!  (more…)

Magical Fairy Woodland Garden Wedding Sotogrande

September 25th, 2015 Posted by Fairy Theme, Gold Sequins for weddings, Romantic Weddings in Spain, Vintage Furniture Hire for weddings in Spain, Wedding Signs Spain, Weddings in Sotogrande 0 thoughts on “Magical Fairy Woodland Garden Wedding Sotogrande”

As the Andalusian summer heat has finally left us behind and autumn arrives drawing 2015 to a close, we are super excited now to be sharing our year’s work with you having created many fabulous weddings during what has been an incredibly hot and busy summer.

Some of our weddings seem to take forever to get photos and sadly a handful of clients do not like to share their wonderful weddings which is such a shame but of course we have the relaxed clients that are happy for us to share their gorgeous days otherwise we would have a very barren blog :)!

Only last weekend we were busy working on Anna and Jeff’s beautiful fairy woodland wedding in Sotogrande and are delighted to be able to share these photos with you so quickly thanks to Anna Gazda, the super speedy photographer!

Anna and Jeff met with us last year at their chosen venue, having already been recommended us, we were hired immediately to help them create their dream day.  Anna wanted a fairy woodland theme to blend with her romantic venue and she knew we were the right team to do this for her with our renown fabulous rustic signs, fairy lights and attention to the details and styling of our dreamy weddings.

We had a lot of fun working with Anna, Isabel quickly put all the planning logistics into place so whilst the majority of everything was done there were a few last minute details to sort out as the whole wedding came together and resulted in a completely perfect magical day.

The ceremony was set under the cool shade of the trees by the polo grounds and we decorated this area with a rustic aisle runner using just gypsophila for the arch with silver buckets full of gypsophila to line the aisle.   We used our vintage table for the ceremony which was beautifully conducted by Allan Davies and the whole setting was just beautifully pretty and romantic.

A lemonade station was set up to greet the guests along with our hand crafted paddle fans and we used moss and some of our signs to style the area along with some very cute woodland floral arrangements.  Anna and Jeff had organised for a surprise polo match to be played out on the fields for their guests during the cocktail hour which was a huge hit and had a charming air of peace about it as we all watched the horses.

In this day the wind was really quite strong and we were aware that gusts of up to 40 miles per hour were predicted so just as we were setting up the ceremony we had to abandon any ideas of the floral straws in the lemonade jars and everything was being glued and nailed down having had our table seating plan crash which was quickly re-stuck and assembled!

By this time with a gale practically blowing my stress levels were pretty high having already had a crash on route to the wedding and when my team arrived to greet me in I was not in the best of moods so you can imagine how it got when the table seating plan and arch blew over but we quickly rescued everything along with some heavy rocks, very strong double sided tape and long nails!

We hired in wooden tables which worked beautifully with the rustic venue and dressed these with our gold sequin table runners to add some glamorous sparkle and created a stunning tablescape using florals in gold pots created by Loraine along with our gold hurricane lanterns and tealights.

Dancing under the stars is always permitted at this venue and the party carried on until the early hours in the garden under a starry sky and lots of magical twinkle.  Rob the DJ kept everyone on the dance floor and our chill out was created using local haystacks covered with throws and some glittery cushions.

The beautiful cakes were designed by Sweet Things by Fi and our thank you to all our suppliers who worked hard to make this wedding come together.

Finally our congratulations to Anna and Jeff and we wish we could work with you both all over again!

Wedding Celebrations at the Castillo de Santa Catalina, Malaga

January 18th, 2015 Posted by Blush for Weddings, Castle weddings in Spain, Gold Sequins for weddings, Our Weddings, wedding planners Marbella, Wedding Planners Spain, Wedding Venues in Spain 0 thoughts on “Wedding Celebrations at the Castillo de Santa Catalina, Malaga”

Here we are at the beginning of 2015 and already busy planning our weddings for this coming year but are still receiving wonderful photos of our 2014 weddings to share with you.

Lea and Marouen’s wedding at the end of September, is one of my favourites from 2014 and they were such a charming, sweet and delightful couple to work with.

I remember meeting with Lea in Malaga at the beginning of last year and Jess driving Lea around Andalucia as they looked at venues, finally settling on the beautiful Castillo de Santa Catalina for their wedding and the Cortijo Sabila for the pre-wedding paella pool party and base for their wedding preparations.

As their wedding day approached though we were really excited but also frantically checking the weather on every possible available weather app known to mankind as a storm of gigantic proportions had been predicted hitting Malaga around 6pm just as their ceremony was about to start.  I think I was introduced to weather apps I did not know existed this day!

We, as wedding planners, and knowing the huge amount of rain that can literally pour from Spanish skies had sadly resorted to going with plan B to play safe but instead after much consulting, toing and froing and a rather large and elaborate floral arch being moved from inside the venue to outside via a lift and a flight of stairs, plus a little bit of stress, and last minute parasols being hired in, we decided to risk it and continue with plan A.

In the end not one drop of rain reached us as the storm raged out over the sea and a beautiful and fabulous wedding was underway.  We were so lucky but I have never seen so many eyes looking up to the skies and surveying the looming clouds!

The girls got ready at the Cortijo Sabila where they were well and truly looked after by the one of the greatest hosts I know, Yvonne.  Jess was totally in love with Lea’s dress and having palpitations over her beautiful Jimmy Choo shoes!   Then the girls left and travelled down to Malaga to the stunning Castillo where Lea and Marouen’s beautiful ceremony was conducted on the roof terrace of the Castillo de Santa Catalina by the lovely Natasha.

We created a floral arch which we think looked lovely despite being moved and broken down to fit into the lift and quickly reassembled!   The aisle on the roof terrace was lined with blossom trees and blush petals and a welcome table was set up displaying the Order of Service booklets we designed, antique pink parasols, personalised fans and confetti.

The cocktail area set in the Castillo’s ruins really did not need much decoration as it is so beautiful but we set up a fun area for bling rings and hats and created a lovely table seating plan with different frames set onto a wooden board.

As the evening progressed we have never seen so much dancing under the fairy lights, it was fabulous, the celebrations were well and truly underway.  There was a wonderful flamenco display followed by a delicious meal and a lot of dancing away into the early hours with Tristan the DJ.

The wedding theme was blush and golds, we decorated the venue with lots of lanterns and a large fairy light display hanging down the walls of the venue.  The tables were beautifully sparkly with our gold sequin table runners, blush, pink and peach floral arrangements set into vintage style gold pots surrounded with gold tealights, the whole effect was beautiful and stylish.

Lea and Marouen provided each guest with some very pretty favors of chocolates decorated with blush flowers and a little bag of sugar almonds which were set off perfectly on each place setting which we had styled with our gold charger plates and tied each napkin with a blush ribbon.

Jess and Rocio organised the whole day beautifully and the wedding cake was created by the venue and finished with some lovely gold glitter heart cake topper decorations ordered by Lea as she knew she could not have a wedding without my love of gold glitter!

We hope you enjoy these photos of such a beautiful wedding at the Castillo de Santa Catalina, we have lots of weddings there again this coming year so we are sure this will help many of our couples envisage their own weddings here.

Our thanks to Jess and Rocio for being such fabulous planners, the venue, Joseba Sandoval from Romance Weddings for such wonderful images, Yvonne at the Cortijo Sabila, Natasha the celebrant, Tristan the DJ and of course our congratulations to Lea and Marouen x

Finally we have reached 2014 and would like to wish all our past, present and future clients a wonderful New Year with health, happy times, laughter and love.

Here at Reviva we are looking forward to our fab weddings we already have booked and are planning for this year and 2015 in many lovely venues all over Spain.

We thought it would be a good idea to kick start this New Year off with looking at the trends we are creating for our weddings and to steer you to some fabulous websites we constantly watch for inspiration, advice and giggles.

Our first must see, found on Rock and Roll Bride, is this cool extra ordinarily introduction to planning your wedding by Veronica Dearly

Golds have replaced silvers with a lot of sparkle, always my favourite subject if it involves sequins or glitter, any excuse to shine!

We love this gold sequin wedding found on 100 Layer Cake with the gold pinatas and here at Reviva we are prepared for lots of gold glitter in 2014 with our new sequin table runners and gold charger plates.

After London was sprinkled with edible confetti last night this will now be big in wedding world for 2014 and who cannot love this idea, whether it will be scoffed before you are supposed to throw it or not will be an interesting observation!

Here is a useful tutorial from Twirling Betty to making your own edible confetti or of course you can purchase it from any good cake supplier.  I think throwing small smarties or mini marshmallows could be the way forward!

As we head into this exciting year we will share many tips, trends and helpful hints with you in order to help you find inspirations and advice for planning your wedding and to make sure you shine and sparkle.
