Earlier this year I was contacted by Paul and Joy, an utterly charming couple looking to host their wedding in Spain with their family and a couple of close friends.

Paul and Joy had already booked a stunning villa in Ronda for the week of their wedding but were set on a beach blessing and then wanted to head up to the hills for a Mamma Mia style dinner party with plenty of good food and wines at their villa.

After we met for a coffee, they were sold and so was I!

During our meeting I suggested a few beach venues that I thought would fit their criteria perfectly.  They took down the details and directions and spent the rest of their holiday having a nosey, some lovely laid back beach lunches and checking out my suggestions!

When Ashleigh first got in touch with me from New York, she had already booked the Finca and church in preparation for their wedding in Spain.

The catering was also confirmed but Ashleigh had hit the proverbial ´wedding wall´as I like to call it.  Still required was all the furniture, glassware, linens and decoration plus someone to pull it all together and oversee the day.

I love a challenge and thought how lovely, a beautiful Finca near Iznajar in the middle of June, perfect weather and a stunning location.  This wedding has now gone into my top ten hottest weddings ever as the heatwave we suffered in June drove the temperatures up to the mid forties!  Never have I been so hot without air con to dash into!

I often wonder where the busy summer months go and of course in the winter we do slow down, but ever so slightly as there is always so much to catch up on.

So what do wedding planners get up to in the winter!

I thought it would be a nice idea to write a little blog post about what we have been up to and give our readers a little insight into our lives.

Some weddings have certain elements about them that will always be etched in your memories and this fabulous wedding of Niamh and Andrew is one of them.

Actually for quite a few reasons, of which some they have no idea about, but firstly because of their tiny vintage 500 fiat car they hired for their wedding.   For me, it just made their day, it was fun, cute and just probably the most unwise choice for a wedding car but gosh did we love it and doesn’t it make for some really great photos!   (more…)

After a very hot day in September, I have lovely memories of sitting down in the evening as the dinner started and just thought WOW, it really was a dream fairytale wedding.  Everything was beautifully lit and twinkling away and our guests were enjoying a superb meal after a beautiful ceremony and cocktail.

I was utterly delighted, along with being rather charmed by the Maitre D who also apparently managed to weave his magic charm with the mothers and aunts of the bride and groom, according to Kareemah afterwards :)!  (more…)

Springtime Wedding in Seville City

October 7th, 2015 Posted by Delightful details, Wedding Photographers in Spain, Wedding Venues in Spain, Weddings in Andalucia, Weddings in Seville 0 thoughts on “Springtime Wedding in Seville City”
I cannot quite believe we are now well and truly into October after what has been a fabulously busy and hot summer.

I love this time of year, not only because it is my birthday month!, but now we can spend time looking back at our work, enjoying all the photos sent to us from the hugely talented photographers we work with and can share very special days and memories with you.

Heading back now to the gorgeous month of May, before our rather extreme heatwave took a grip on Spain this summer, we spent most of this month in the vibrant city of Seville.  In fact I was even beginning to search the real estate agents and thinking of buying a crash pad there!

Who cannot love this city, the capital of Andalucia, a hotbed of flamenco, passion and tapas bars, stunning architecture and one of the most beloved places here in Spain so where better to host a wedding!

K and K contacted us as they wished to host their intimate wedding in Seville with close family and friends.  With a Spanish family already here and the rest of their guests travelling with them from the States, Seville was the perfect location for everyone to make the journey to celebrate their marriage.

Casa Guardiola is a stunning palace house located just opposite the Alfonso XIII hotel and was the ideal location for K and K’s wedding celebrations.

The afternoon started with a lovely ceremony in the garden room followed by a longer than usual cocktail in the Patio de Caballos where the guests were entertained with a jazz band, jamon cutter and a wonderful cheese table.

Dinner followed in the stunning Patio de Columnas with some lovely touches organised by the family as a surprise for the newly weds such as a wonderful video and some beautiful favours of chocolate and photo frames for each guest.

Whilst K and K wish to remain private we had to share such a stunning location with you and some of the details of their gorgeous day of which we have very fond memories.

Thank you to Joseba and Mar from Romance Weddings for, yet again, taking such lovely images of such a beautiful day and thank you to my team, especially Isabel, for working so hard to create yet another stunning wedding and dashing around the city to buy cake stands!

Laughter at La Cabane, Los Monteros Hotel

Here we are still sharing our fabulous weddings from 2014 with you as we chase the photos in!

I don’t think I have ever seen so many photos from one wedding so full of smiles and laughter throughout the entire day 🙂

When we first met Suzie and Barry we knew their wedding day would be one big party, they were such a sociable, warm and pleasant couple and their parents were all great friends so we could see this was going to be a fabulously fun filled day with a family that loved life and loved celebrating!

Suzie and Barry held their wedding ceremony at the Encarnacion church then transported their guests to the stunning La Cabane Beach Club at Los Monteros hotel for a fabulous wedding reception.

The evening started off with Masquerade, during the dinner, making sure it was going to be a lively evening and they had an amazing fireworks display followed by dancing into the early hours of the morning.

The next day the festivities continued on the beach offering plenty of hangover food and drinks along with some more wonderful entertainment including the Brazilian drummers and dancers.

Our congratulations to Suzie and Barry and our thanks to all the wonderful suppliers involved in creating such a fun filled few days.

A Beautiful Blush and Mint Wedding at Villa Padierna Hotel

Nothing quite beats the elegance of the Villa Padierna Hotel and for our avid followers you may recall one of our previous weddings at this gorgeous hotel was featured in Style Me Pretty so a wedding combined with this beautiful venue and the stunning Encarnacion Church in Marbella is always going to be a fabulous affair!

Eva and David live in Australia but chose to host their wedding here in Marbella as it is such a great central location for family and friends to travel to from all over the world including Ireland and London with supposedly almost guaranteed sunshine.

Our famous Mediterranean sun did not show up sadly and was replaced by rain, a hailstorm, lightening and thunder, but I have to admit I loved the more atmospheric feel to the day listening to the thunder whilst working on the flowers in the church.

Nothing was going to dampen the mood for this gorgeous wedding and brollies were quickly found for everyone at the church.  A beautiful ceremony took place and eventually true to Spain the sun came out again later in the evening and a fabulous party was underway.

We loved the colour combination using a mint green and blush scheme with chevron details and golds and created some beautiful Spanish vintage style stationery to compliment the design from the Save the Dates to the Order of Service booklets, gorgeous flowers and lots of delightful details from gold charger plates to personalised placecards tied to each napkin with mint ribbons, table names set into gold vintage style frames and this fabulous dessert and chocolate treat table.
The icing on the cake, excuse the pun, had to be this fabulous creation from Sweet Things By Fi with the chevron pattern and such beautiful sugar flowers.   We have now stolen this cake design and have it in our shop as we love it so much!
Our thanks to all the suppliers who worked with us at this gorgeous wedding and to Nani De Perez for sharing these beautiful photos.

Our congratulations to Eva and David and cannot believe it is now over two months since your wedding day!

French Jewish Wedding at La Cabane by Evenpic Photography

I love this time of year as we wind down from our wedding season, it allows us to meet new suppliers, plan photo shoots and generally catch up with all our friends in wedding world and have a rest!

It is so rewarding and satisfying to have time to sit and look back at our achievements and the beautiful weddings we worked on this year and pat ourselves on the back. Our winters are spent putting the foundations, designs and more exciting ideas together for our future weddings and events.

We are delighted to have had such a successful year, we love our 2013 couples and it is so rewarding to see such beautiful photos of such special days.

We would like to share our gorgeous Jewish wedding held at La Cabane at Los Monteros Hotel with you from Evenpic photography, a fabulous photographer based here in Malaga.

We have been taking the time to introduce ourselves to talented professionals over the past few months and I had seen Fran and Elizabeth´s beautiful photos from Evenpic and was keen to meet with them and what a charming team 🙂
It is always important when you meet with a potential photographer to see entire portfolio of weddings and not just selected shots they have chosen, so having met with Fran I was thrilled to see our beautiful wedding captured so perfectly from the getting ready to the party and dancing 🙂
We love this French Jewish wedding Evenpic shot at La Cabane, so as an introduction to their work, we are delighted to share this fabulous wedding with you.

Becky Sharpe on Dating and Wedding Photography

January 11th, 2013 Posted by Cinematic Wedding Videography, Destination Weddings, Helpful Hints for Weddings, Wedding Photographers in Spain, Wedding Suppliers on the Costa Del Sol 0 thoughts on “Becky Sharpe on Dating and Wedding Photography”

We love Becky Sharpe.

Fabulous and funny, Becky is one of our favourite wedding photographers and videographers based here in Southern Spain

Becky enjoys life as a mother to her very handsome son Charlie, eats, lives and breathes photography and filming (and chocolate) and to top it all is a witty storyteller.  Becky will always tell you how it is!

Today Becky has shared with us her humorous and, we think, hugely helpful take on choosing your Destination Wedding Photographer, along with some of her fab photos 🙂

I was tickled pink to think that choosing your wedding photographer is a lot like online dating. But then when I think about it some more, I think we can take some tips from that…

A few years ago a friend of mine was bewailing his experience of online dating, as he was having no luck. I could not understand this as he is a good looking guy with fun conversation and was looking for a long term relationship.

Isn´t that what women are seeking?

So we wrote him a totally new profile – just focusing on the points that women are more interested in (IMHO)…

A few photos uploaded, and something written that demonstrates he really has a sense of humour – and his situation totally turns around. He could hardly keep up with all the interest he then got.

Being a wedding photographer in Marbella, I realise that much of what wedding suppliers do is similar to online dating – especially in a destination location.

Essentially, we are showing ourselves to you as you view our profile… oops, I mean website.

So much like online dating, I am trying to my best to show who I am as well as what I do all on my website. I have to let you get to know me to see if you want to go on a date with me (albeit a photo shoot date!)

This is important because if you, the bride, hire a photographer to document your wedding, you need to like that person. A lot.

You will be with your photographer more than anyone else (the groom included) on the wedding day.

So here are some tips to brides choosing their wedding photographer online.

After all, you want to find a photographer who fits as perfectly as a glass slipper.

Finding your Photographer Online – Sharpe Tips

Top Tip One – Do The Research

Photographers have resources at our fingertips to create an online identity to convey who we are – in our websites, blogs, and other social media like Facebook.
You might realize you share the same humour, or have similar interests or find a photographer’s point of view enlightening
The opposite can be true as well, so be sure to follow up your research with some communication…

Top Tip Two – Email or Telephone

An email to say Hi is always a great start.
If you find that you only get an automated response from a photographer by email and then you are ignored… how can I say this?!
That is not a beginning of a great relationship.

If you are looking to communicate with the photographer best suited for you, it’s best to email a couple of times and see how your chosen photographer responds.

But you will also want to progress to chatting to your photographer too… so, at some point before the wedding, I suggest picking up the phone – possibly as a scheduled call if you are busy, and if your photographer is busy (we are! but not too busy to talk to you!).

Top Tip Three – Read The “About Me” Section

The best pitch a photographer has to capture a bride’s attention is this section on our website. This is our opportunity to let you know who we are and what we’re passionate about.

As Brits we may not want to be seen to be bragging, but we are using this Biography section to introduce ourselves to you – so you can choose if you want to go to the next stage of our relationship.

Top Tip Four – Ask Away

Don’t be afraid to ask any and every question.

A professional wedding photographer knows a bride is preparing to draft an all-star team for her wedding day, so you can ask whatever questions you need to ensure you feel good about your decision to book someone.

My friend’s dating worked out really well for him and he is now in a serious relationship as a result. At the end of the day, his profile needed to showcase his best attributes and not leave her guessing about who he was.

In the same way, if a photographer can put themselves out in a personal capacity — offering a bride to get to know them better — chances are the relationship will be happy, professional and mutually beneficial.”

Becky sends you some
