Wow, wow, wow is all I can say! What a most amazing weekend and awesome wedding!
Situated in the hills above Sitges, just outside Barcelona, Julia and Brian chose to host their destination wedding at the beautiful historical Masia, the Casa Felix and what a fabulous week they had!
Celebrations kicked off in full swing with a welcome Spanish evening, all the girls were asked to wear red and the men black. It was a brilliant start to their festivities, with a tapas and paella dinner, fun dressing up accessories including hats and fans and of course plenty of sangria! I enjoy a pre-wedding party as it allows me and my team to familiarise ourselves with the families, guests and generally understand the dynamics of the wedding. I am a great people watcher and love nothing more!
As the wedding day dawned everyone started with a delicious brunch by Melissa and the hair and makeup began.
A large hair and makeup team were required as in total they were weaving their magic on 14. Overseen by Nikoleta, and with the organizational assistance of Julia´s cousin, the team did a magnificent job having everyone ready in time and looking fabulous.
The cutest flower girls ever really made my day, they were such a delight, not one meltdown, just utterly gorgeous little girls really enjoying their role in this epic wedding day. They loved every minute and were so excited! This wonderful image captured by Andrea, I think, sums up their personalities and the fun they were having!
Julia and Brian are probably one of the most fun couples I have ever worked with, they were charming, witty and I always looked forward to our Skype chats with them from New York. Over a year you share many things and one I do remember is them sending me a video of them walking their dog in a very snowy New York City, I was insanely jealous as I adore snow!
They had some brilliant ideas and charming stories they wanted to incorporate into their wedding day including apples as Brian proposed to Julia in an orchard so it was a definite we had to include these. After searching online for concrete apples with a gold paint effect, they were continuously out of stock. In the end, we decided to spray real apples gold and use them for each place setting with the guests’ name attached. We also created extra to use around the venue adding to the decor.
I adored Julia´s colour scheme using these fabulous jewel tones, there was nothing wishy-washy about this vibrant wedding styling and it was exciting to see it come together with the creative talents of Maria from Atmosfera´s team.
For me brighter colours always work well, they are evocative of all the beautiful coloured plants we enjoy here in Spain such as oleander, bougainvillea, hibiscus to name but a few. I often find the paler colours look washed out in our bright sunshine but I understand their bridal appeal 🙂
Don´t these lads just rock! Soooo cool! Digging those floral ties!
I adore this image of Julia, giggling with excitement, as she is just about to meet Brian for their first look.
A special private moment was spent before two families became one under a beautifully decorated floral chuppah with the ceremony presided over by Rabbi Daniel Fischman.
I loved the fact both the mothers wore red, it was a sign of communication and unity as often the mothers don´t wear the same colours and in fact avoid it. Not really sure why now having seen this as it just worked so well.
Watching closely, the adorable flower girls just loved everything about this wedding. I was wondering what memories they will retain as they grow up after watching their beautiful cousin getting married. Whether they will remember the dressing up, the trip to Spain or if they are like me even the shoes they were wearing!
After a wonderful ceremony with the most beautiful Ketubah I have ever seen and the blessings over the kosher wine and challah bread it was time to smash the glass and celebrate this marriage in style.
A dream day, I again love this image of Julia, she really did wear her heart on her sleeve, everything about her was fun and happy.
Each place setting had a printed menu created by Cal Blay and was finished off with a gold apple and placecard.
The table was beautifully decorated with the most amazing florals from Atmosfera.
Hora dancing and no one got dropped, my heart is always in my mouth during this tradition at our Jewish weddings, I am usually frantically noting where the first aid box is, thankfully it has not happened so far!!
As the sun started to set the guests enjoyed a wonderful meal catered by Cal Blay in the dreamiest setting.
After the speeches and cutting of the cake with sparklers, guests were then treated to a brilliant flamenco show with Paul Bosauder.
An amazing first dance, one of the best I have ever seen, Strictly eat your heart out!
The guests then partied on into the night with plenty of dancing, a photo booth, midnight snacks, candy bar and cigar and whiskey bar!
Just an amazing day, I wish I could do it all again as it was such fun!
A huge congratulations, mazeltov to Julia and Brian and we really do hope you will come back to Spain to celebrate your anniversary and see more of this wonderful country. You really rocked!
Our thank you to Andrea Ferrara for these wonderful images. As always without our talented, dedicated hard working team of suppliers we would not be able to create the weddings and events we do so a big thank you, especially to Luis and his team at Cal Blay, I don´t think I have ever seen anyone work so hard!
