When Karina got in touch with me to tell me her little brother was getting married I was so delighted to hear from her as I had decorated her wedding many years ago at La Cabane, Los Monteros hotel. I met with Simon and Maria, we chose a fabulous beach side villa, organised all the suppliers and were ready to roll out their wedding when disaster struck.
The venue was slapped with a noise court order just one month before their wedding. Now for a smaller wedding this would have been manageable but in the case of Simon and Maria’s wedding with a high guest count and a lot of live music it was impossible to continue their wedding at this villa.
A frantic new venue search started and to cut a long story short Simon decided to move his wedding to the iconic Marbella Club Hotel. Whilst this obviously increased their wedding budget, Marta was so accommodating and bent over backwards to help us at the last minute.
What can I say from start to finish this was the most fantastic wedding starting with a beautiful Catholic ceremony at the stunning Encarnacion church in Marbella’s Old Town. Looking back now later in the year their wedding was show stopping and I am a great believer in things happen for a reason. I had two weddings I had to move and both were totally epic!
Far better than had we stayed at the original villa they had both booked and soon I will tell you about the other wedding we moved but we had more time to move it as it was a September wedding.
Excitement was in the air as everyone was getting ready in their beautiful surroundings, the sun was shining and Maria looked absolutely stunning. Their guests started to gather in the church square ready for their marriage ceremony at the beautiful and popular Encarnacion Church.
I have got to love the priest at this church, every wedding he has done this year he takes selfies with the couples, it is just too funny!
Guests stayed in the Old Town of Marbella for drinks whilst Maria and Simon had some brilliant images taken and we loved the camper van that was supposed to bring the bridesmaids but broke down! Thankfully it got started again, joys of vintage cars though, I love the image of the boys pushing it afterwards as a joke!
After a fabulous cocktail reception guests made their way through to the gardens ready for some serious fine dining under a beautiful sky filled with overhead fairy lights.
The guests were entertained by a brilliant entrance from all the fabulous bridesmaids and groomsmen before the entrance of the bride and groom, little details like this make such a wonderful difference to wedding days and are so memorable.
There were some brilliant speeches, this is one of the elements of a wedding I really love as I get to know couples so well during our planning of their weddings but I always adore hearing a bit more about them from their families and friends. By this time I realised the band due on later that evening were still in Dublin, they had been delayed so I was quickly putting a plan B into place, as we do!
The fabulous Rat Pack were performing so we quickly organised an extra set and the DJ was a friend of theirs so he was stepping up his game to cover the rest of the evening. He came up trumps and was ready, when I could find him in a sea of faces! As dusk started setting the atmosphere was magical, Maria and Simon were whipped away down to the beach for a shoot and the images are just beautiful, I love them.
This still makes me giggle when Maria turned everything around, took charge of the camera and took a photo, which I have to say is brilliant, of the Love Hunters team! After the cake cutting it was time for the party to start!! I knew it would be epic but they did the best first dance I have ever seen to Queen’s Somebody to Love, this party was on fire!! I loved Maria’s dad, he really was the best dancer ever and was up for everything!
Just the most amazing wedding, I loved it! Midnight snacks were takeout pizzas which we had preordered and it did make me giggle when they arrived as they were massive, we were very fortunate the fabulous Marbella Club agreed to some of the many elements we had already organised for the wedding. Sadly Maria and Simon did lose a bit on deposits paid, we are still trying to resolve this for them but I do recommend you take out wedding insurance for such eventualities such as this. The band did finally arrive but late at night and I so wish I had photos of the next day, lively or what, such a great pool party and the band were utterly brilliant, Maria’s dad was still bouncing, he amazed me!!
This wedding will stay in my heart, Maria and Simon were just so wonderful even being faced with changing a venue at the last minute, they were cool, calm and let’s just do this and between us all we did and their wedding completely rocked!
Thank you to the Love Hunters for these fabulous images and cannot wait to see the video! A huge congratulations to Simon and Maria, it was stressful but we did it in the end, I think Maria’s face during the photos just sums up what a fantastic day she had!
