Well, what a week it has been since the WHO announced we had a pandemic and Spain declared a state of emergency followed by what was a very rapid lock down due to the Corona Virus.

I thought I would come on and write a little blog post about the current situation here in Spain and how we are getting on.

Today the Corona virus was classified as a Pandemic by the World Health Organisation. When news of the Corona virus first broke I was watching, waiting and observing all the information that was being published by the press. I decided to just sit it out, the last thing I wanted to do was add fuel to what seemed to be a media frenzy.

With over 300 days of glorious sunshine each year in Marbella’s micro climate we are fortunate enough to be one of the most popular holiday and wedding destinations in Europe.

Marbella is synonymous with glamour and glitz, it is a mini California and once you step away from the widely publicised bling you will find one of the most sophisticated, stylish, beautiful towns in Europe.

Here at Reviva Weddings we are super excited to be entering 2019 and finishing the planning of many of our gorgeous weddings this year.

We are also still getting lots of enquiries which is amazing, but with only a few dates left we are now turning weddings down which is a shame, but we do always recommend other planners we know and work with.

2020 is also really busy so if you are considering a wedding in Spain I would recommend you start planning as soon as you can.

As we draw a close to 2018 I love to take time to reflect not just on my business, but my life, as they are totally connected.

I adore what I do, so for me, it isn’t work, it is me, I live and breathe what I do each day. Anyone that knows me personally says this and often tells me to take a break! The only time I do is at Christmas as I am like an excited child and just love this time of year! Give me glitter and fairy lights and I am in heaven!

Here in Spain, Christmas has well and truly arrived, the shops are full of decorations, supermarkets are proudly presenting their hanging jamons, the famous Spanish turron is stacked high and every conceivable roundabout and walkway is planted with poinsettias.

It is so festive, Spanish style, I just love it!

Spain is a very popular destination wedding country with its fabulous weather, super easy access from all over the world and I just love and totally connect with my clients that adore this country as much as I do and want to host their weddings here.

It seems a lifetime ago we created this fabulous styled shoot at the Cortijo Pedro Jimenez in Casares.

I have been meaning to blog this for ages as this shoot was in February but March arrived and we were full on with our real weddings.  We had a lovely exciting month of new bookings, client visits, food tastings, suppliers meeting, etc before the Easter holidays.

This weekend I will cover a very popular style of wedding here in Spain, villa weddings.

As you search for venues and wedding planners you may notice many wedding planners do not offer private villa weddings as part of their service and prefer to stick to the hotel and wedding venue packages. (more…)

Sarah´s first enquiry with me was in the spring of this year, with less than 5 months to go and a large wedding to organise, she had hit what I always refer to as the ´Wedding Wall´ and she knew I was the only wedding planner here that would envisage her dream and make it come true.

Whilst quite a few suppliers were in place, there was still a lot of work to be done.  With a short engagement combined with a busy date in September set Sarah had also discovered many popular, and easy to find on the internet, suppliers were already booked.

When I met with Sarah, and her charming mother, at their beautiful home in Sotogrande, the location for her wedding, they also explained to me that they wanted the pressure taken off them, someone who knew exactly what they were doing, had experience and to assist and finish the planning, finalise the budget, organise the suppliers and have a team present on the day.

I explained I was already personally booked on their actual wedding day and would be in Barcelona, but I would work with them on the lead up to the wedding and put a team into place to oversee the day.  (more…)

This past week Spain has had a heatwave, which is unusual for the middle of June, but temperatures have risen to the 40’s inland and over 30 on the coast.  This, my lovelies, is shade temperature 🙂

Many of my past clients have said to me “don’t worry we have nothing but clouds and rain here and are looking forward to seeing some sunshine and blue skies”.

Well this ain’t pleasant sunshine and blue skies, this is searingly fierce heat, it is like being locked in a sauna for the day!
